Methodology

This project does not produce a forecast for the future development of the energy system, but is intended to show interdependencies by comparing scenarios. Thus, path dependencies and robust developments on the way to greenhouse gas neutrality can be identified. In order to adequately capture the increasing interactions between the sectors, the use of a complex model network is necessary. In the Long-term Scenarios III project, we couple specialized sector models for the building sector, industry, transport sector, household appliances and tertiary processes and appliances, energy supply, gas grids and electricity grids to achieve the highest possible resolution. These models are each maintained by separate teams. In the scenario explorer you can analyze the constantly growing dataset.
